The route

Canada's original coast-to-coast adventure route

Ridden, checked and remapped before it goes live

The TCAT is Canada's original coast-to-coast adventure route. Classique Ridaventure, the nonprofit behind the TCAT and the Trans-Québec Trail, is leading the 2027 relaunch and has partnered with Backcountry Discovery Routes to welcome riders from across North America.

Every region is being ridden, checked and remapped before it goes live, with input from Craig of I Think We Missed a Turn, who ran the route coast to coast in 2026.

Backcountry Discovery Routes

Our American cousins are coming north

BDR riders, the trail keeps going past the border

Canada already has a thriving network of long-distance adventure routes. The Trans-Québec Trail has grown to more than 8,000 km (nearly 5,000 miles) across Quebec since it launched in 2021. The TCAT runs coast to coast from British Columbia to Newfoundland and is being revalidated for a full relaunch in 2027.

Backcountry Discovery Routes is working with Classique Ridaventure, the nonprofit behind both routes, to welcome U.S. riders who come north to ride not only BDR routes but these Canadian favourites too.

We're excited about that. BDR built the best documented route network on the continent and plenty of you already ride the Rockies on our side of the line. If you've finished a BDR you'll feel at home on the TCAT. Same gravel, longer gaps between fuel stops and a lot more water crossings. Bring the bike. We'll show you the turns we missed.

The partners

Why we're in

Four companies, one trail

  • The TCAT was always meant to be ridden coast to coast. The Trans-Québec Trail showed what a riding community can build in a few seasons, and now we get to do it for the whole country. Fresh data, a guide for every region and partners on both sides of the border. This is the biggest thing Classique Ridaventure has taken on and we are ready for it.

    Marc Chartrand

    Classique Ridaventure

  • I spent the 2026 season riding the TCAT coast to coast on a Kove 450 Rally, wild camping and filming the whole way. The route deserves better data than it had and now it is getting it. Fresh GPS, honest regional guides and a community that shares what it finds. That is the trail I want to send people down, so count us in.

  • Canada has some of the most incredible adventure riding in the world. We are proud to collaborate with this amazing group to build the digital home for the TCAT and showcase Canadian routes and landscape to the world. We could not be more excited for the relaunch!

  • BDR looks forward to working with Classique Ridaventure, the nonprofit behind both routes, to welcome U.S. riders who come to Canada to ride not only BDR routes but also these local Canadian favourites.
